John MacDonald after graduating from the University of Iowa with a Bachelors in Business Administration began his career in the entertainment industry in 1986 at Cellar Door Concerts of Florida, rising to the position of President in 1996. While at Cellar Door MacDonald promoted and produced major live performances with some of the top names in the concert business including Dave Matthews Band, Elton John, Pearl Jam, Celine Dion.
In 1999 MacDonald launched Four Points Entertainment, a booking agency specializing in the careers of comedic talent. Among his creative endeavors, MacDonald was involved in the development and promotion of the popular “Blue Collar Comedy Tour” which toured the country from 2000 through 2003. The tour played in over 90 cities and grossed over 15 million dollars. This successful comedy show was made into a motion picture for Warner Brothers and released in 2003.
Later that year, MacDonald joined Parallel Management Company, a personal management company located in Los Angeles, as Partner. During his tenure there MacDonald produced comedian Ron White’s initial comedy CD “Drunk in Public”. He also served as Executive Producer for White’s Comedy Central Special “Tater Salad” which has sold over 1,000,000 copies as a DVD. In 2005 MacDonald served as Creator and Executive Producer for the “Ron White Show” which aired on the WB network in April 2005.
In the fall of 2005 MacDonald and Alex Murray left Parallel to form their own personal management company MacDonald-Murray Management located in Los Angeles.
Alex Murray began his career as a college rep for Virgin Records while attending the University of Southern Mississippi. He advanced to promotion of Virgin Records artists in the Southeast for two years before relocating to Los Angeles.
In 1996 Alex began at ICM and was promoted to agent in 1998. He was responsible for booking national tours for artists with an emphasis on comedy. Some of the artists included Jay Leno, Dennis Miller, Chris Rock and David Spade to name a few.
In 2000 Alex left ICM to become a partner in the management and production company Nine Yard Entertainment. While at Nine Yard he was instrumental in securing a TV talent deal for Henry Cho (ABC), he also promoted the sale of the Todd Glass sitcom “Todd’s Coma” to Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison and TBS.
In 2005 Alex partnered with John MacDonald to form MacDonald-Murray Management. He has served as Executive Producer for many of his clients:

Alex continues to produce Gaffigan’s national stand up tour that places him among the top 5 touring comedians in the country.
Bjorn Wentlandt began his career in 1995, promoting and producing concerts for independent musicians in and around Toronto, Canada, where he was born and raised. He spent the better part of the next decade producing tours and live shows across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia with some of the world’s top musicians and comedians, including such prominent names as Madonna, Coldplay, Lewis Black, Kids in the Hall, Dave Attell, Mitch Hedberg, and Britney Spears.
In 2005, Bjorn moved to Los Angeles to join Live Nation, the world’s largest concert promoter, as a Talent Buyer and Director of Comedy Touring. Over the next two and half years, he was instrumental in promoting the tours of such artists as Kathy Griffin, George Carlin, George Lopez, Zach Galifianakis and Brian Regan and festivals that included Dave Chappelle’s Blockparty tour and Opie and Anthony’s Traveling
Virus.
In addition, Bjorn has promoted and worked on numerous recording and television projects including Russell Peters’ Outsourced, Dave Attell’s
Insomniac Tour, Lewis Black’s Red White and Screwed and Brian Regan’s Stands
Up.
In 2007, he joined MacDonald-Murray Management as a Talent Manager. He currently resides in both Los Angeles and New York, where he recently opened a MacDonald-Murray Management office. |
